No. Nothing you put into Juris — documents, notes, research, or drafts — is ever used to train Juris's AI or any third‑party model. Sage reads your matter only to answer you, in that moment, and never to improve a model. Your work stays yours alone. This is enforced in the architecture, not just a policy we could quietly change.

Any AI can generate a citation that isn't real — that is exactly the risk Juris is built to catch. Every citation Sage relies on is checked against authoritative legal sources before it reaches you, and anything it can't verify is clearly flagged. You review and adopt the research as your own before relying on it, so you never unknowingly file law that does not exist.

Your data never touches another firm's data. Juris uses schema-per-tenant isolation — every firm gets a dedicated database schema. Privilege-flagged documents are excluded from all AI processing at the database query level, not the prompt level. There is no way for Sage to see a document you have flagged as privileged. Your data is never used to train AI and is never sold.

Your matter content is encrypted in transit and at rest, isolated per firm so it never mixes with another firm's, and never used to train AI. It is never sold, never rented, never handed to advertisers, and yours to export or delete anytime. Aligned with PIPEDA and Alberta's PIPA.

You do — completely. Everything you create in Juris (drafts, research, notes, exports) is your work product: yours to use, edit, share with co‑counsel, or take with you. Juris claims no ownership over your content or over Sage's output for your matters.

Every major Canadian law society — LSBC, LSO, Law Society of Alberta, Barreau du Québec — has issued guidance permitting AI tools in legal practice provided the lawyer exercises appropriate oversight. Juris's verification workflow is specifically designed around that standard: AI output is watermarked until you complete a documented review. The record of your review is stored and auditable.

The verification workflow is your protection. Every piece of Sage output is watermarked [Unverified] until you complete a review checklist: checking each citation against its authoritative source, tracing every factual claim to a source, and formally adopting the research as your own. The law has always required this standard of professional diligence — Juris just makes it faster, documented, and auditable.

Your data is yours. You can export a complete copy of your case files, documents, and notes yourself at any time from Settings → Data — so you're never locked in. If your trial ends or you cancel, your data is kept safe and stays exportable — you'll just need an active plan to keep using Juris. We only permanently delete accounts after 24 months of inactivity (with email warnings first), and we give at least 30 days' notice before any service discontinuation.

Yes. Juris is built with PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA compliance as design requirements, not afterthoughts. We collect only the minimum data necessary, all AI processing is disclosed in our Privacy Policy, and you have full access, correction, and deletion rights. General-purpose AI tools have no access to authoritative legal sources, no citation verification, no privilege protection, no case file context, and no verification workflow. They will generate confident-sounding citations that do not exist. Juris was built specifically around the risks that caused Zhang v. Yes. Juris is designed for the entire firm, not just the lead lawyer. Clerks and paralegals can upload documents, organise matters, and use the client portal. The AI features require a licensed professional to verify outputs — the appropriate division of responsibility. Firm plans are billed simply per lawyer, so you add seats as you grow.
